Mesenteric adenitis, also known as mesenteric lymphadenitis, is a condition that mainly affects teenagers and children. There are lymph nodes inside the abdomen, and these can become swollen. It is called mesenteric because it affects the mesentery, which is the tissue connecting the abdominal wall and intestines. Symptoms of mesenteric adenitis can mimic those of many other illnesses, especially appendicitis. The symptoms include fever, diarrhea, malaise, vomiting, and pain in the lower right part of the abdomen. It is important to get proper testing to determine if the condition is appendicitis or not.
