Performing step ups will strengthen the muscles that support the knee. However, if you have issues with your knee, skip this exercise as it can aggravate your knees too much.

Begin your step-ups at a staircase with a railing for support if it is needed. Stand on the bottom step and step up with your right foot. Bring your left foot up onto the stair, and then bring it back down to the floor, keeping your right foot on the step for the entire time.
